Do you take custom requests?
Yes, we love taking custom requests! Your creativity is very inspiring and we're thrilled to guide you towards getting the piece you're looking for.
How long will it take to get my piece(s)?
Depending upon the season, lead time is usually a minimum of 2 weeks. During the holidays, we have to plan more in advance, bumping it to 3-weeks.
What type of finish do you use?
We are fans of durable finishes that are eco-friendly, and will make your investment last. Having kids of our own, we understand that furniture is going to get well used. We have thought ahead of time for juice spills, homework, toy slamming, and dinner parties full of guests.
What type of wood species do you use?
Our preference is to work with hardwood species. Big box stores are known for gluing very thin pieces of hardwood (called veneer) over cheap, lightweight plywood or particleboard. We do accept builds that request a more cost efficient option such as pine or fir, however. In the past, we've worked with species such as; Alder, Poplar, Oak, Maple, Honeylocust, Walnut, Canarywood, Wenge, and more. At Heart Of Timber, we build with solid wood, knowing it's lifetime, value and durability increase in doing so.
How much does this cost?
Each piece (especially custom work) varies in species, size, style, and materials used, this question is nearly impossible to blanket with a standard answer. We recommend contacting us to see if your idea is something we can deliver on, and we'll get a better idea of how to price our work.
